John -- The Texas congressional maps signed by Governor Abbott today are the epitome of discrimination. They fail to adequately represent communities of color in the state, which is why the National Redistricting Action Fund (NRAF) is supporting voters in a lawsuit to challenge these maps.
In the run-up to the enactment of these maps, our movement has been mobilizing folks on the ground to prevent this. But conservative map drawers ultimately ignored demand after demand after demand from the public.
Despite these legislators’ commitment to manipulating the maps, we believe what A.G. Holder said is true: “we still can stop power grabs like the one unfolding in Texas.”
