Can you believe Joe Manchin actually pretends he cares about working people?

Meanwhile, he’s doing everything he can to block President Biden’s agenda to move our country forward.

He turned down H.R.1 the For The People Act, which aims to expand voting rights, reduce the influence of money in politics, end gerrymandering, and create new ethics rules for elected officials.

He refuses to abolish the filibuster, a procedural relic that has prevented common-sense policies from passing into law — like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, the Equality Act, comprehensive immigration reform, and lowering prescription drug prices.

He has worked against clean energy solutions — instead, siding with the fossil fuel industry where he has personal financial ties including hundreds of thousands of dollars in stocks.

Joe Manchin might not call himself a Republican, but he’s no better than the GOP leaders who are prepared to sabotage our fundamental democratic values as long as it continues to benefit them and their powerful, wealthy interests. But if we are going to build an America that truly prioritizes working people (unlike Joe Manchin), then we must stand together by mobilizing and organizing. Along with every Republican member of Congress and just one other Democrat (who sold herself out to Big Pharma, but that’s a different story), Joe Manchin has been a staunch opponent of the Biden-backed Build Back Better plan.

This comprehensive reconciliation bill invests $350 billion a year for the next decade into addressing the struggles faced by working families. The landmark legislation includes expanding Medicare, lowering prescription drug costs, funding for childcare and education, affordable housing, paid leave, climate action, and much more all while not raising taxes on everyday Americans.

It’s clear that Joe Manchin’s motives and interests aren’t with the needs of the working people. Obstructionists like him have no business in Congress making policy decisions that impact the workaday citizens of this great nation, let alone representing our party.
