Yesterday on CNN, Nancy Pelosi said Democrats will have an agreement on the spending bill and vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill in the next week.
Our community in South Texas is still reeling from the economic impact of COVID-19. We all faced the debilitating effects of the global pandemic. Congress must include President Biden’s Build Back Better budget in the final bipartisan infrastructure bill.
But our representative, Henry Cuellar, is standing in the way of making that happen while pretending he supports it:
Progressives in Congress successfully delayed a vote on a weak version of the reconciliation package, due to Democrats like Cuellar attempting to weaken it. This proves why it’s so crucial to expand the progressive coalition in Congress — it holds moderate and conservative Democrats in Congress accountable and puts our communities ahead of big corporations and special interest groups.
Last year, we came just 2,746 votes shy of winning. But with your support, we can surely make up the difference in the next 5 months.
