John,

Late last week, I got a very disturbing call from a Republican extremist. After watching Tucker Carlson attack me on Fox News, this Tucker fan decided to call me and threaten to kill me and my family. 

After several minutes of death threats, racist and homophobic epithets, and other extremely disturbing and violent rhetoric, he ended the call shouting, “Trump Nation!!”

This is the GOP that Trump and Tucker have created. Republicans are proud that they’ve been able to unleash such a radical part of their base. They don’t care if it means visceral threats are spewed at me or my wife and kids. They don’t care that it’s resulted in a domestic terrorist attack on our nation’s capital. 

Tucker, Trump, and the rest of the GOP know exactly what they are doing.

That’s why, John, we have to fight back. Behavior like this is un-American and unacceptable. If it continues, I have no doubt in my mind that our country is bound to face further violence.

I won’t let their threats dissuade me. No matter what, I will continue my fight to bring integrity back to our political system.
