We’ve just checked in on our progress as we approach the end of the month, and we’re falling far short of where we need to be right now, John.

Contributions have fallen off for the last two months, and right now we’re projected to fall $9,000 short of our budget.

But we are proud of one thing. With over 100,000 contributions received since our founding, our lifetime average contribution is just $17.19. 

Why is that important? The incumbents we challenge raise millions of dollars from corporate PACs and the super rich. Their average contributions are hundreds if not thousands of dollars. But our $17.19 average donation means that our support comes from working people chipping in what they can.

Brand New Congress has been a people-powered movement from the very beginning. Over 99% of our contributions are small-dollar. In fact, over 83% are less than $10.

Those small dollars really add up when we all pool our resources. Can you pitch in $5, $10, or even $17.19 today to help us raise the $9,000 we need before the end of the month?

Last week we announced Jerry Dickinson as the latest addition to our slate. We have another exciting announcement coming this week, which will bring the total number of candidates we’re supporting to 22.

And we’ve got our work cut out for us this year. Not only are we competing with incumbents swimming in corporate cash, the ongoing redistricting process means every one of those 22 candidates will have to contend with changes to their district. In some cases, they may end up running against an entirely different opponent!

We have to be ready for anything, which is why it’s so important for us to hit these fundraising goals.
