Start Early Applauds Gov. Pritzker for Issuing Executive Order 2021-28On Friday afternoon, Governor J.B. Pritzker issued Executive Order 2021-28, which requires all staff working in licensed child care settings to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Those unable or unwilling to receive the vaccine will be required to test for COVID-19 at least once per week.
We applaud the Governor for his decision and thank his administration for prioritizing the health of our early childhood workforce and the young children in their care.
As a direct service provider, Start Early announced a vaccine mandate in September following months of work intended to assist staff in accessing education related to the vaccine, as well as the vaccine itself. This approach allowed us to reach full compliance without any staff terminations. Broad and individualized outreach, education, and access are key ingredients to achieving high vaccination rates across our early care and education field. |
Read our most recent blog post, in which we explain in more detail our vaccination efforts and link to helpful guidance and support documents for the provider community. |
