73% of Americans support paid family and medical leave.
So why is the United States one of only six countries — and certainly the only wealthy country — in the whole world without any form of national paid leave?
It’s shameful. We must change it right now. And that’s why I’m fighting so hard for paid leave and President Biden’s entire Build Back Better agenda — because we can’t leave anyone behind.
But this fight is far from over and paid leave could be left out of the final proposal! Corporate America is working hard to slash the critical investments that voters are counting on us to finally deliver. Can you step up and contribute $3 or more right now to get a Build Back Better Act that includes paid family and medical leave over the finish line?
Whether it’s welcoming a new child into your family or experiencing an unexpected illness, no person in this country should ever have to make a choice between keeping their job and taking care of a loved one.
All we’re asking is that the wealthiest Americans and big corporations finally pay their fair share in taxes so we can invest in working families. That’s it!
I know it feels like this fight has gone on for far too long — we have corporate lobbyists and their unchecked influence over our political system to thank for that. But we can’t stop now. Paid family and medical leave policies are incredibly popular, and we have to see them through. I know we can do it — we can join the rest of the world in finally guaranteeing paid leave.
In solidarity,
Pramila
