In just a moment, I'm going to ask you to make a $3 contribution to my re-election campaign. Please give me a chance to explain why this request is so important.

Here's the truth:

One week from today, we close the books on our end-of-month fundraising deadline. And when it’s done, we’ll be one year out from Election Day.

And while we have already received more than 25,000 donations this month, at this point in the race we need double that to keep up with our goals.

So we’ve set a goal — an ambitious one — but one we need to hit. This is a campaign that thinks big and shoots for the stars, and it’s a goal I think we can achieve together.
