John -
When you think about it, $3.50 may not seem like a lot of money. But when people all over the world donate $3.50, we can send climate activists to Glasgow to coordinate an unforgettable global mobilization at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) for the most important climate summit of the year, and to ensure that climate justice is at the centre of the negotiations.
I want to share how your $3.50 contribution will support climate activists across the Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and Asia — and help build a powerful climate movement — but before I do, if you can make a $3.50 contribution today, your support will help us expose to the fossil fuel industry and the politicians they bankroll on a global stage.
John, the cost of travel and housing in Glasgow will make your eyes water. For the majority of people in the world, it is prohibitively expensive. But we know that our physical presence will send an unmistakable message to the fossil fuel lobbyists who will be roaming the halls of COP26 in their $2,000 suits.
It's critical that our global presence at COP26 is represented by the people who are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. That is why we are supporting groups like the Pacific Climate Warriors to attend COP26. Together, we will mobilise the Pacific Climate Warriors network for a global week of actions and aim to collect 10,000 signatures to support the declaration. We will amplify the demands in the declaration and strengthen the support for Pacific leadership.
But not everyone is going to be able to attend the climate conference, John. So we're supporting climate and movement leaders around the globe who will also be holding solidarity actions organised to expose the corruption of the fossil fuel industry. It's going to be huge.
Today we are asking you to make a $3.50 contribution to help support climate activists turn COP26 into an unprecedented moment for our climate movement:
Here's a bit of a sneak peak at what your $3.50 will also support around the globe:
At 350, our aim is to make climate activism as global as possible because the climate crisis is a global issue and requires a global response. That means ensuring frontline communities and climate leaders have equal access to attending major climate conferences like COP26. And for those who cannot attend, we'll help make their mobilizations as effective as possible.
So thank you for your support today. It means a lot to me and to all of us here at 350.
In solidarity,
Monica Hollander
