I’m writing to ask if you will please split a $10 donation between Val Demings’ campaign for Senate in Florida and my campaign in North Carolina. [[link removed]] Please let me explain why your contribution is so important — especially today.

North Carolina and Florida’s Senate races will be among the most competitive and expensive in the country this cycle. Winning these seats will be key to expanding Democrats’ majority.

We recently got incredible news about Val’s race that I wanted to make sure you saw. A new poll shows Val Demings down by just 2% to Marco Rubio — within the margin of error!

Val is an incredible candidate. She’s a U.S. Congresswoman who before that rose through the ranks to become Orlando’s first female Chief of Police. I know she has what it takes to win this race and defeat Marco Rubio.

But with a 50-50 margin in the Senate, Mitch McConnell and national Republicans are going to spend obscene amounts of money trying to drag her name through the mud. Just like Republicans are coming after me, they’re coming after Val.

So I am asking for your support to ensure we have the resources to fight back:

But the unfortunate reality is that for African American women, raising money has been among the biggest obstacles we face when running for office.
