COP26 is just a week away. It's being pitched as the most important conference in the history of humanity, but preceded by 25 COPs that have produced little but empty promises, why would this year be different?
XRUK's 3rd demand has never been more important. And here’s why…
Our elected representatives are influenced by lobbyists, removed from ordinary people’s lives and are part of a system designed to win elections - not solve long term issues.
Citizens’ Assemblies have proven that when citizens know the facts, they propose solutions more ambitious than politicians can.
XRUK’s 3rd demand calls for a Citizens’ Assembly on Climate and Ecological Justice - independently run - to tell politicians how the public wants to address the climate and ecological emergency.
This would provide the Government with the justification and legitimacy to make the difficult choices needed.
