More than 1 in 6 American children live in extreme poverty.

And today, Democrats have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lift millions of children out of poverty by immediately passing the much-needed child tax credit and universal pre-K plans included in our historic $3.5 trillion budget.

But Mitch McConnell— who slandered the Democratic budget as a “wild spending taxing spree” that will have us “running the country into the ground”— is lining up his Senate GOP foot-soldiers against the bill. The Senate GOP would rather impoverish millions of children than cede a single inch to our Democrat majority, even on common-sense legislation so clearly serving all Americans' interests. The Party of Trump's nearsightedness is unforgivable.

Senators Maggie Hassan and Catherine Cortez Masto are working overtime to punish the Senate GOP for its wholesale refusal to improve our children's quality of life. But McConnell just directed the GOP electioneering machine to spend a whopping $10 million on a vicious ad campaign targeting Hassan, Cortez Masto, and other Democrats who support the budget.
