Filth. Garbage. Those are the abhorrent words North Carolina Lieutenant
Governor Mark Robinson used when talking about the LGBTQ community a few
weeks ago. And when confronted over his blatantly homophobic and
transphobic comments, he doubled down on his comments, stating: “The
language I used, I am not ashamed of it. I will use it in the future…”^[1]

The hostility and hatred promoted by the Lt. Governor are repugnant, and
must be condemned. That’s why we are calling on him to resign his public
office IMMEDIATELY!

First reported by People For’s Right Wing Watch, the comments were made at
a church service he attended in July, where those words were among several
attacks he made against the LGBTQ community. Robinson went on to attack
drag queens and the transgender community, calling them “perverts” who
want to molest children.^[2]

The extreme homophobia and transphobia on full display have faced swift
and bipartisan condemnation from many, but Lt. Gov. Robinson remains
defiant in his bigotry. We must keep up the pressure for his immediate
resignation!

It’s not just the LGBTQ community that Lt. Gov. Robinson is attacking,
either. In remarks made at a conference in September his Christian
nationalism was on full display, when he declared that the United States
“is a Christian nation […] and always will be,” – going on to suggest that
anyone who doesn’t like it is free to leave.^[3]
