A PERSONAL NOTE from DAISY

Thank you so much for all your kind words about the loss of Bella. You
can never know how much they helped my family.

***

This time, two years ago, I was living in Athens, Greece, watching a
beautiful sunset over the Acropolis every night from my rooftop. This
time one year ago, I was exploring the wild, rugged beauty of Joshua
Tree National Park with a friend.

This year, I'm coping with loss and struggles. Everything changes.
That's just life.

As I work on keeping my business alive and growing, despite economic
circumstances, I was thinking about the lessons that I have learned.
They apply not just to business but to life itself. Let me tell you
about the story of the website, and you'll see what I mean.

I started The Organic Prepper almost 10 years ago in a little cabin
heated only by wood up in the Algonquin Forest of Canada. For two years,
I published on a regular basis but ended up making only about $1000 for
all that work by the end of the second year.

In the third year, I met a friend who taught me how to monetize the
website without charging readers a whole lot of money to do it and
suddenly everything changed. I still had a full-time job but I was also
making full-time money on my website. At the time, Amazon paid their
affiliates a commission of 8.5%. Things were great.

I left my job for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship - a scary move for
a single mom. It wasn't too long before I got an email from Amazon
telling me they were cutting our commissions down to 4%, effective
immediately. And just like that, I lost more than half of my income and
there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.

I cried, I swore, I raged, but in the end, I had allowed another entity
to have far too much control over my business. This is a lesson that has
been reinforced many times.

Of course, the answer to this was diversifying my income and never again
being too reliant on any one source.

A few years later, I got permanently banned from my Facebook page. They
allowed my admins in there but I could no longer interact with readers
on social media. That was a huge hit for traffic. Here we go again - too
many eggs in that one basket.

Again, the answer was diversification and taking the power into my own
hands. I started an email list and began writing to you daily, outside
of what we publish on the website.

When Amazon cut our commission again in early 2020 down to 1%, I
shrugged and carried on. When I got shadowbanned on Twitter, c'est la
vie.

When I got defunded for being a "disinformation" website, it was an
enormous hit. Even though I was diversified, it was such a loss of
income that it nearly took us down. But because of those other streams
and support from you, the readers, we're still moving forward and
publishing daily. We've had to cut back on a lot of expenses, we've had
to create new streams of income, but we're still standing.

As we gain ground and begin to recoup what we lost through other
sources, we stand to be ahead of where we were before we got defunded.
Every single bad thing that has happened has made the business stronger,
more resilient, and harder to kill.

This sounds like a business lesson, but it's really a life lesson.

When bad things happen, it's important to feel your feelings and mourn
those things. But then you have to dust yourself off and you have to
keep moving forward. You have to stop relying on anyone outside your
personal network and remember that ultimately, you can only rely upon
yourself and those closest to you. You have to keep building, keep
growing, and keep learning.

The more resilient and less dependent you are, the harder you are to
kill. You can look at that metaphorically or realistically, based upon
your own personal perspective.

Just remember to take some time to keep yourself strong mentally,
whatever that looks like for you. For me, it's heading out in the Jeep
to take a drive to nowhere, windows down and the radio blasting. For
you, it may be a walk in the woods, or going out to your garden. Your
mental health is an important factor in making yourself harder to kill.
It keeps you strong and helps you to think of solutions instead of
getting mired in problems.

I don't know what the future holds for any of us. Just look for the
lesson in the hardships to come and build your foundation of resilience
from there.

You've got this, my friend.

Re-Localize Your Food Supply

Our just-in-time food supply system can hardly handle regional shocks,
let alone nationwide and global disruptions like we're seeing today.
Relocalizing your food supply could be critical for your survival in the
future, for both your pantry and your pocketbook.

Join my friend Jason Matyas for this FREE live webinar

on Tuesday about creating your own supply chain. (Replays are
available.) People have raved about all of Jason's webinars and I know
this one will be just as excellent. The timing couldn't be better. Sign
up by clicking this link

and I'll see you there.

WHAT I'M DOING TO PREP THIS WEEK

So... I have good news and bad news.

* The good news: I harvested TONS of herbs from my patio garden. I have
enough basil, thyme, mint, and oregano to see me through the winter.
The

* The bad news: I harvested them wrong and killed my plants when I
brought them inside. The only one to survive was my mint plant.

If you're looking for a prepper with a green thumb, that prepper would
not be me. Anyway, I'm starting more plants from seed and will hopefully
keep them alive through the winter. I picked up a baker's rack to put in
a semi-sunny window to grow some stuff indoors. The weather has been
unseasonably nice and I've been able to keep the door open and let Thor
relax on the patio.

I am also going to gear up my brand-spankin' new sprouting set this
coming week. I'm not particularly a fan of sprouts but it's a great way
to add fresh greens without a trip to the store. I'm sure I'll come up
with some tasty ways to eat them.

IMPORTANT: I went to 3 different places to buy more activated charcoal
this week for poultices, etc., and everyone was sold out. I found some
on Amazon for a reasonable price and bought a few pounds of it. If
you're not familiar, it makes an excellent drawing poultice and it is
also useful in the event that someone ingests something toxic. (Human or
canine) Grab some activated charcoal for your prepper's medical kit!

Now that the borders have re-opened, I get to see my eldest daughter for
the first time in nearly two years. I'm so excited! She'll be flying in
from Canada for a week to see her sister and me.

Did you miss any episodes of Crypto Revealed?

All the episodes are available for FREE this weekend only...

And because they promised to leave the special offer up until the last
episode comes down, the world-premiere special offer
is still available as
well.

Take advantage of both before this Sunday night, at midnight!

P.S. An ancient Hebrew proverb says, "A good person leaves an
inheritance to their children's children." I believe this means more
than "money."

It means leaving an inheritance of wisdom, knowledge, and the moral
compass to do good with every resource you have.
