Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I was back in Washington, D.C. for votes in the U.S. House of Representatives. I joined the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy to advocate for affordable and reliable energy for my constituents. Additionally, I spoke about the importance of being reliant on American energy production, not foreign energy production. I also held a virtual meeting with the Valleywise Health Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. During our conversation, I discussed issues facing their company and their emphasis on quality patient care.

As Co-Chair of the Congressional Women in STEM Caucus, I spoke at the ENGAGE Summit about tackling the STEM gender gap. I stressed how important it is for industries to seek out and hire women, pay them well, and promote them. I also met with the Semiconductor Industry Association to discuss funding, tax credits, manufacturing, national security, and the economy. I am proud that the new Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing plant is coming to our district. Additionally, I spoke on the Uber Safety Series Panel to discuss how companies such as Uber can implement better safety standards and practices for ride-hailing services. I also met with Argentum to discuss assisted living issues.

Energy and Commerce Committee

This week, I attended a hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy about the domestic wind energy industry. I discussed the importance of increasing America's energy independence and the reliability and affordability of energy. The critical supplies, materials, and technologies that will drive our economy and determine our future cannot be controlled by countries like China. Watch my full remarks in the committee below!

Legislative Update

This week, I joined Congressman Tom Emmer (R-MN-06) in a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expressing concern about the Democrats' proposal for banks to turn over Americans' private financial information to the IRS so they can snoop on your bank account. By enacting this overreaching regulation, the Democrats are weaponizing the IRS and violating your privacy. Your bank account should not be monitored by the IRS!

I also joined Congressman Jody Hice (R-GA-10) to demand President Biden take action and use all available resources to address this past weekend’s abduction of 17 American missionaries in Haiti. The missionaries being held hostage in Haiti must be returned home immediately! Please join me in praying that these missionaries return home safely.

GET THE FACTS: Biden’s Supply Chain Crisis

As you may have heard, because of the Democrats’ disastrous policies, there is currently a supply chain crisis. Progressive policies adopted by the Biden Administration led to this crisis, including lockdowns, paying people not to work, and overregulating trucking. The bottom line is that the supply chain crisis is affecting every American. Small businesses already affected by COVID-19 will be wiped out by the supply chain crisis! Inflation, already at 5.4 percent, will continue to spiral due to low supply and high demand.
