With so much happening in Washington right now, we figured it would be as good a time as any to let you know exactly what you’re funding when you support this campaign.
Our campaign has always relied on the grassroots support of people like you — contributing whatever they can, whenever they can — because they believe in Ayanna’s vision for transformative justice and equity for all.
With so much happening in Washington right now, we figured it would be as good a time as any to let you know exactly what you’re funding when you support this campaign.
This is will be a long email, so if you’re short on time you can make your first $3 contribution here.
Here are the highlights of what Ayanna has been working on this month:
- Securing universal paid family and medical leave: Paid leave is infrastructure. That’s why Ayanna is fighting to pass universal, comprehensive paid family and medical leave as part of the Build Back Better Act and advance racial, gender, economic, and disability justice. This week, Ayanna led more than 100 of her House colleagues in demanding President Biden to keep this transformative policy in the package.
- Affirming housing as a human right: Amid an affordable housing and eviction crisis, Ayanna is leading the push for bold, robust investments to expand affordable housing in the Build Back Better Act. These investments would provide critical resources for public housing; housing for seniors and people with disabilities; support for first-generation homebuyers; and more.
- Advocating for Haitian refugees: Haitian lives are Black lives, and Black Lives Matter. That’s why, as the Co-Chair of the House Haiti Caucus, Ayanna is calling for the full investigation into the cruel, inhumane treatment of Haitian migrants by the Department of Homeland Security.
- Fighting to cancel student loan debt: With just a few months until student loan repayments are set to restart, Ayanna is keeping up the pressure on President Biden to honor his commitment to economic equity and racial justice by canceling $50,000 in federal student debt for every borrower immediately. The student debt crisis has exacerbated deeply entrenched racial and economic inequities across the country, and student loan debt cancellation would be a critical step toward a just, equitable economic recovery.
It means so much to us that our movement is funded by folx like you — the very people Ayanna fights for in Congress every day.
If you can, a $3 contribution from you would go a long way towards ensuring we have the resources to help keep Ayanna in Congress, fighting for bold, progressive policies that elevate our voices and expand equity and justice for all.
