After a year of extreme drought, heat, and flooding that touched every corner of the globe, COP is more important than ever. But if President Biden wants to be a world leader, he can’t show up to COP26 empty-handed.

John,

As part of the Paris Agreement — a legally binding international treaty on climate change —  world leaders meet regularly to address climate change at the Conference of Parties (COP), an event that forms the foundation of future climate agreements. The 2021 conference, COP26, takes place in Glasgow, Scotland begins on October 31 — a week from today!!!

After a year of extreme drought, heat, and flooding that touched every corner of the globe, COP is more important than ever. But if President Biden wants to be a world leader, he can’t show up to COP26 empty-handed.

Congress must pass the bold climate investments in the Build Back Better Act to set the stage for President Biden to lead at COP26 — showing renewed American leadership on climate at this code red moment for humanity. John, can you send a message to your senators and representatives now to demand their support for bold climate action now?

Take Action »

Back in August, the 2021 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report told us it’s still possible to meet the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees by cutting global emissions in half by 2030 in order to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. But we have to act now, not next year or another decade from now.

Inaction is not an option. Waiting for another convenient political moment is not an option. Putting the interests of corporate donors ahead of our communities sure as hell is not an option. That’s what got us here, and that’s what will enable things to get even worse

It’s time for those in power, starting with President Biden and every Democratic member of Congress, to get serious about fighting climate change. Now. Ahead of COP26, join us in sending an urgent message to your members of Congress calling on them to deliver the bold climate action we deserve.

In solidarity,

All of us at Sunrise
