I just challenged our primary opponent, Tim Ryan, to a series of debates across the state of Ohio in the lead-up to the Democratic primary.
If you agree that voters deserve to hear our views out in the open, and want to see me across the debate stage from Tim Ryan, add your name to our petition here.This election is too important for Ohio voters to not hear from me and my opponent directly on where we stand.
That’s why I suggested we have one debate per month, each in different parts of our state, so the people can hear our views on everything from a woman’s right to choose, to voting rights, to the economy, and to fighting climate change.
The Republican party has been doing just that — which is why we know how far-right and dangerous the views of their front runners, Josh Mandel and J.D. Vance, really are.
The Democrats should do the same. And especially after the news that the State Party was secretly helping my opponent fundraise, Democratic voters deserve to hear how Tim Ryan and I are different. We both should have to make our case to the voters in public. It’s the voters’ right to nominate a candidate, and we need to keep it that way.
