Through our Girl Action Teams, you’ll join girls who look like you to design and lead a social change project that you create yourself! With the help of a female changemaker in your community, you learn how activists like Marley Dias, Angela Davis, and Michelle Obama have used their voice to make change in their communities. Along the way, you’ll make new friends, play games, and have sisterhood circles to share thoughts and ideas - all in a safe space made just for Black girls. New this year: we're offering a $250 stipend for girls who complete the program! You will earn $125 in December and $125 in May.
Girl Action Teams have done incredible things. They created the beautiful Girls For A Change Mural in Jackson Ward; a father/daughter dance that was so inspiring it was the subject of a TED Talk and is now getting its own documentary; they worked with the VMFA to be a part of the new Dirty South exhibit that celebrates Southern Black culture. They’ve even been on the cover of Style Weekly! AND because they worked together on these big projects, they learned some cool skills along the way.
