Our ambitions must match the problems of our time, beginning with our answers to carbon pollution from transportation.
A few weeks ago, Amazon set the bar when it announced its plans to roll out 100,000 electric delivery vans by 2024.[1] Amazon's pledge is no drop in the bucket. The online retailer's fleet travels millions of miles every year -- and electrifying those miles will go a long way toward reducing toxic air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.[2]
Now imagine if UPS, with its fleet of 123,000 vehicles, did the same.[3]

UPS has been experimenting with alternative fuel sources for a while and wants to slash its emissions drastically. But right now, it's only committed to buying "alternative fuel or advanced technology vehicles" for one-quarter of all new vehicle purchases by 2020 -- and that still leaves the door open to environmentally harmful options like compressed natural gas.[4,5]
Of those 123,000 vehicles, only about 300 are fully electric that we know of, and UPS still lacks a quantifiable goal for electrifying its entire fleet.[6,7]
As the efficiency of electric batteries transcends expectations and their cost plummets, UPS has an opportunity to step up its electric game and become a corporate leader on public health and the environment. They just need to hear your voice.
Tell UPS to replace its polluting diesel vehicles with clean, electric engines.

As tailpipe emissions continue to exacerbate rising rates of cancer and worsen a climate crisis that threatens us all, the choices we make today may be the most important of our lifetimes. Let's help UPS make the right one.
