It’s just 8 days until world leaders gather for the COP26 summit. 

Making sure the COP summit has an impact means making sure Boris Johnson knows that, as summit host, his actions matter. It means all of us speaking out together, pressuring leaders from across the globe to seize this chance to make progress on fixing the climate crisis.

So I wanted to check, can you give a few pounds to fund Greenpeace's work at the climate summit? Two days ago, I sent you the email below with Greenpeace's plans. Every contribution really does add up. So if you're able to, there's still time to chip in here:

Hi John,

I want to share what’s happening at Greenpeace right now.

As I send this, our team of activists, investigators, and political experts are working flat-out, preparing for the COP26 climate summit.

When the climate talks take place in Glasgow in a few weeks, we’ll be on the ground. We’ll be there to hold world leaders to account. To send an unmissable message that COP26 can’t be another wasted chance to fix the climate and nature crisis we face.

But here’s the crunch. Making these plans happen costs money.

Greenpeace doesn’t take donations from corporations, and to stay independent we don’t accept government funding. Instead our work relies on people like you chipping in what they can. So forgive me for asking, but can you chip in to ramp up our work at COP26?

Here’s what your contribution will pay for:

• Pressuring politicians -- with politicians across the world travelling to Glasgow, Greenpeace's team of political specialists will be there to influence decision makers, lobbying representatives from around the world face-to-face.
• Investigations -- it’s not just environmental groups who’ll be in Glasgow; oil and gas firms will be there too, doing all they can to water-down progress. So as I send this, our investigations team is gearing up to expose what the fossil fuel industry gets up to behind closed doors. With your support, we can make sure these investigations create an even bigger splash.
• Direct action -- we can’t say too much yet (some of our plans are secret for now, sorry!) but our team of campaigners, activists and volunteers will be in Glasgow to make sure world leaders know the world is watching, and that we won't accept more failure.
• Social media ad campaign -- we know many politicians watch what's happening online, so to help build pressure at COP26, Greenpeace's social media team will run attention-grabbing ads on Facebook and Instagram. With your support, this ad campaign could reach millions of people.
• Beyond COP26 -- the COP26 summit is a crucial moment, but building long term change isn’t just about what happens in Glasgow. Fixing the climate crisis is going to take huge numbers of us working together, working harder than ever. Your contributions will help us ramp up our work beyond the summit.

To keep our work independent, Greenpeace doesn’t take money from big businesses or governments. Instead our work is funded by people like you giving what they can. That’s why I’m emailing to ask, can you contribute to help meet the cost of our work at COP26?

As COP26 host, the UK has a huge opportunity to rally the world to step up action. But if Boris Johnson wants to be taken seriously, he must get his own house in order first.

That means the prime minister must immediately block new fossil fuel projects and prioritise jobs in renewable energy instead. It means stopping UK banks from funding climate-wrecking industries, and taking genuine action to protect forests, oceans and nature. And it means he must increase UK funds to help the most vulnerable countries adapt to the climate crisis.

Together, we can hold the prime minister’s feet to the fire on every one of these. So if you're able to, please chip in to fund this work here.
