Friends --
Quick update on how we're doing getting every unregistered Democratic voter in District 25 registered and onto the voter rolls.
We are 15,489 registrations away from our goal.
You can see that we still have a way to go -- every precinct counts, and it's especially important that we continue to both focus on precincts where we must increase turnout to expand the electorate, primarily in working class precincts that Democrats typically take for granted and haven't traditionally spent much time organizing and push into rural parts of Texas that were gerrymandered to try to weaken our organizing power.
In 2018, Julie showed up in every county in this district and ran hard. We made the district competitive. Now we need to capitalize on that momentum.
In Austin, it isn't enough to continue to win by the same margins we ran up in 2018, which were substantial -- we need to massively increase turnout in central and east Austin to run up the score, and we need to win Western Travis County precincts outright. It's critical that we achieve true saturation with the share of Democratic voters we get registered in Austin. There's no way around this -- we have to go all the way.
Austin:
Reach 20 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 208 (UT) ([link removed])
Reach 75 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 256 (Tarrytown) ([link removed])
Reach 387 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 126 (Central East Austin) ([link removed])
Reach 225 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 129 (East Austin) ([link removed])
Reach 118 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 364 (West Lake Hills) ([link removed])
Reach 150 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 232 (Steiner Ranch) ([link removed])
Reach 645 Democratic Voters in Travis County Precinct 135 (Mueller) ([link removed])
When Republicans drew District 25, they carved three precincts in Killeen-Ft Hood. These precincts that voted overwhelmingly for Julie in 2018 by huge margins. And we need to make sure that we're investing in heavily increasing turnout there.
These are working-class, multiracial precincts where we spent every day during the final months of the campaign in 2018 knocking doors.
Part of the challenge in our Killeen precincts is that many of these families are active duty on post at Fort Hood, and while they are receptive to Julie's vision for the district and for Texas, keeping their registrations current can be difficult, both because of Texas' racist anti-voting laws and because many folks aren't given clear instructions for getting registered before a deployment. Our team is fixing that, at the source.
Killeen:
Reach 707 Democratic Voters in Bell County Precinct 413 (Killeen) ([link removed])
Reach 435 Democratic Voters in Bell County Precinct 405 (Killeen) ([link removed])
Reach 494 Democratic Voters in Bell County Precinct 412 (Killeen) ([link removed])
Our data team piloted this program in 2018 and flipped a Republican held Texas House seat in Hays county -- and now we need to defend it, as well as increase Democratic turnout in order to win District 25 in 2020.
These are must-win rural precincts for Texas Democrats in races at every level.
Hays County:
Reach 181 Democratic Voters in Hays County Precinct 444 (Dripping Springs) ([link removed])
Reach 197 Democratic Voters in Hays County Precinct 443 (Belterra) ([link removed])
Reach 114 Democratic Voters in Hays County Precinct 337 (Wimberley) ([link removed])
Reach 55 Democratic Voters in Hays County Precinct 333 (Wimberley) ([link removed])
Republicans thought that by gerrymandering this district for Roger Williams, a Republican fundraiser from Weatherford that was appointed as Rick Perry's Secretary of State, they'd be able to successfully rig the election and disenfranchise Austin voters and voters of color. What they definitely didn't see coming was someone like Julie, a political outsider running a 100% PAC-free campaign, showing up, doing the work, meeting with everyone no matter what their political affiliation, and doing what no Democrat had done before her.
Now we need to finish the job.
Johnson & Tarrant County:
Reach 157 Democratic Voters in Johnson County Precinct 8 (Mansfield) ([link removed])
Reach 82 Democratic Voters in Johnson County Precinct 19 (Cleburne) ([link removed])
Reach 159 Democratic Voters in Johnson County Precinct 4 (Burleson) ([link removed])
Reach 89 Democratic Voters in Johnson County Precinct 7 (Burleson) ([link removed])
Remember -- in order to flip this seat, win Texas' 38 electoral votes, and flip the Texas House, we need to register and turn out more Democratic voters than any Congressional campaign in Texas history.
Chip in and help us get every precinct fully registered.
We've still got 15,849 unregistered Democrats in District 25 to reach between now and December 1. Let's make it happen. ([link removed])
