What's Going On At This Slaughterhouse?

At Mountaire Farms, a North Carolina slaughterhouse that processes 540,000 chickens a day, workers are quitting in large numbers as they allege they’re being exposed to a toxic chemical that feels like it has “invaded your brain.”

“It gives us headaches. It’s something in the water with the chickens because if the mist gets in your eyes, it stings like acid,” said a worker.

This isn't the first time Mountaire has made headlines — and not in a good way — our 2015 investigation there exposed egregious abuse against birds.

VICTORY! McDonald's To Test McPlant In U.S.

Starting November 3, McDonald’s will offer the McPlant at its Irving and Carrollton, Texas; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Jennings and Lake Charles, Louisiana and El Segundo and Manhattan Beach, California locations. This exciting news comes following years of pressure from Animal Outlook with support from other animal advocacy groups for McDonald’s to add plant-based options to its menu.
