John,

Rosie Jimenez was just 27 years old when she ran out of options. CNN reports that Republicans made it impossible for Rosie to find a safe, affordable abortion in Texas. Rosie found an unlicensed midwife to terminate her pregnancy, only to be hospitalized days later with an aggressive infection that had overwhelmed her body.

On October 3, 1977, Rosie Jimenez died in McCallen, Texas surrounded by inconsolable family and friends.

Look, the Republicans are clear-eyed about their role in Rosie's death. Nearly 45 years on, not only are they still championing the Hyde Amendment, which gutted Medicare funding for abortions like Rosie's, but they're also redoubling their aggressive ground strategy against Florida's top reproductive rights champion Rep. Val Demings. This isn't a tragedy to the GOP. It's exactly what they hoped for.

Mitch McConnell knows that if sexist careerist Marco Rubio can crush Val Demings' historic Senate campaign, three things will happen. First, McConnell will regain control of the Senate. Second, the Hyde Amendment will be untouchable. Finally, more women would inevitably wind up like Rosie Jimenez.

If Val Demings defeats Marco Rubio in Florida's Senate race, Democrats will expand our razor-thin 50/50 Senate Majority and pass top-priority progressive policies like Medicare expansion and universal Pre-K & childcare.

But if Demings loses, Rubio will deliver Mitch McConnell control of the Senate. And Mitch will stonewall every Biden-Harris SCOTUS nominee until Donald Trump or one of his autocrat sycophants like insurrectionist-sympathizer Josh Hawley, COVID-denier Ron DeSantis, or yes-man Mike Pence retake the White House. Any of them would nominate more unhinged conservatives like misogynist Brett Kavanagh to the Supreme Court.

The future of the Supreme Court hangs in the balance here, but the latest public polling in the Florida Senate race shows Val Demings losing to Marco Rubio by just two points, 46%–48%.

John, this is an absolutely critical moment. A Woman's Place is doing everything in our power to halt the GOP's half-century long assault on women's rights. But we're fighting against a deeply entrenched, exorbitantly funded, cynical, sexist politicking machine, and we've got to make sure that absolutely everybody joins our fight.

That's why it's vital that we raise another $1,200 before midnight tonight.

You stepped up big time to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. And it's only because of YOU that Democrats elected Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Georgia to give Democrats a razor thin 50/50 majority. Please, with our 50/50 Senate Majority and the future of the Supreme Court hanging in the balance, we're asking you to donate whatever you can right now.
