By now you’ve likely heard this week’s big news: The Biden Administration has taken a major step to protect the Boundary Waters by filing an application for a 20-year ban on sulfide-ore copper mining on federal public lands in the watershed of the Boundary Waters!

This is a huge win for the Boundary Waters but let’s be clear: there’s more to be done to ensure permanent protection for this wild and beautiful place we all love.

Here’s what comes next, and why we need your continued and immediate support:

• Comment periods - we need your help to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people from across the country to participate in the state and federal comment periods. Be sure to tell your friends and family to submit a comment!
• Push for state and federal legislation - in order to ensure permanent and lasting protection for the Wilderness, the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters is working with Boundary Waters Champions on the state and federal levels to pass permanent Boundary Waters protection laws.

Both of these critical next steps require mass grassroots mobilization, scientific, legal, and policy expertise, and a lot of time and resources. We can’t do it without your financial support!
