John,

Montana families are working harder than ever to make ends meet, but with the cost of housing and child care at an all-time high, we need to do more to ensure the next generation has every opportunity to succeed regardless of the income or zip code they are born into.

Last Spring, Democrats in Congress expanded the Child Tax Credit, providing $3,600 a year per each child up to age 6, and $3,000 a year per each child ages 6-12. This massive investment in our children is estimated to cut the child poverty rate by 40% this year.

Since the Child Tax Credit started going out to families in July, millions of children have been lifted out of poverty, parents have returned to the workforce, and families have been able to pay for basic necessities, like food or daycare.

Now, with the expanded Child Tax Credit ending in December, I am urging Congress to make it permanent and continue giving parents the support they need to take care of their family. Join me by adding your name →

We cannot expect people to go back to work if their underlying needs are not being met. Before we can talk about putting people back to work, we need to make sure every Montanan has food on the table and a roof over their head. The Child Tax Credit has given workers a cushion to make ends meet and allowed them to more fully engage in our economy.

We can make these benefits permanent in the economic package currently being negotiated between Congress and the White House, but with some lawmakers determined to see the benefits end, we need to let them know that the people of Montana want to see this critical program continued.

Let’s keep helping our neighbors show up for their community and lift children out of poverty by making the Child Tax Credit permanent.

This is our chance to help children across the country thrive, regardless of their family’s income or zip code. Thanks for making your voice heard with me.
