I am so proud of the work the January 6th Committee is doing to uncover the truth about that day. They’ve made it abundantly clear that they are serious about utilizing the powers at Congress’ disposal to get to the bottom of what happened and ensure it never happens again, whether that is through depositions, through hearings and through subpoenas.

Steven Bannon violated a lawful Congressional subpoena and that is why the House voted to hold him in criminal contempt of Congress. No one, no matter how powerful, wealthy or well-connected, is above the law. And the people involved in planning the insurrection on January 6th need to be held accountable and face consequences.

That’s why I’m in favor of a bill that would fine witnesses up to $100,000 for ignoring a Congressional subpoena so that no one can skirt the truth and avoid justice. Will you sign on to this petition if you support this much-needed legislation today?

We cannot allow the people who perpetrated, funded or profited from January 6th get away with criminal contempt and avoid accountability by having to answer questions under oath.
