“We’re going to have to move to the point where we fundamentally alter the filibuster.”

That’s what President Joe Biden said last night on national television about the outdated Senate procedure Republicans habitually exploit to stonewall progress.

But a different Joe, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, still hasn’t announced his support for reforming the filibuster — despite the fact that Republicans invoked it *again* this week to prevent the Senate from even beginning debate on the Freedom To Vote Act (a bill drafted specifically to satisfy Manchin’s demand for compromise democracy legislation he insisted would appeal to Republicans).

It’s simple:

Joe M. should listen to Joe B.

We have to keep encouraging Manchin until he comes around, so take action today even if you’ve taken action before.

A fellow Joe, President Biden, knows it’s time to set aside the filibuster — at least so we can pass laws to protect our democracy. Your constituents in West Virginia and Americans all across the country need you to come to that realization before it’s too late.
