If there's one thing our government has consistently done right, it's Social Security. That's why this week, I've joined nearly 200 other Democrats in introducing new legislation -- Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust.

Social Security is a promise. It's a promise from your government that if you pay your fair share, your government will have your back down the line. When you retire, when disaster strikes, or when you lose a loved one, you should get the help you've been promised -- and that you've earned.

This new legislation will strengthen Social Security by increasing benefits for seniors, widowers, children, and grandparents, improving the Cost-of-Living Adjustment so seniors can make ends meet, and ensuring Social Security stays solvent for future retirees. I'm proud this critical legislation includes both proposals from President Biden and from the recommendations of the Committee on Ways and Means Racial Equity Initiative.

I strongly believe that all Americans should be able to rely on Social Security for years to come. If you agree we need to protect our earned Social Security benefits, will you add your name next to mine as a citizen co-sponsor of the Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust legislation today?

The work to defend Social Security is personal to me. My Oma lived to be almost 109 years old, and Social Security is a huge reason why she was able to live with dignity well into her second century.

Some experts now warn that – by the next decade – the Social Security fund could be unable to pay full benefits. We can't let that happen! I'm committed to doing everything I can to ensure Social Security continues its long and successful life. I'm confident this new legislation will do just that.
