Hi there — This email is a little longer than what I typically write, but if you have a few minutes, I hope you take the time to read it and then, chip in to fuel our fight to protect clean drinking water:

Last year, I sued chemical companies Chemours and DuPont for contaminating our drinking water by dumping GenX and other chemicals that last forever into the Cape Fear River.

Now, DuPont is saying that it’s not responsible for any wrongdoing because it sold the company to Chemours. Meanwhile, Chemours is saying that it’s not responsible because it has only owned the plant along the Cape Fear River for a few years.

So here’s what I told the New York Times this week about this ongoing matter of fraud:

“DuPont attempted to dump its liabilities on Chemours, just as it dumped GenX and other forever chemicals into the Cape Fear River.”

Look, DuPont and Chemours have been putting harmful chemicals into North Carolina’s drinking water for years, even when they knew these dangerous chemicals threaten human health and our natural resources.

These companies have put their profits ahead of the people of North Carolina for far too long, and they need to be held accountable. I won’t give up, and I’ll never back down in our fight for environmental justice.

If you’re with me, I hope you will consider chipping in to fuel our work to protect our state’s natural resources. We’ve seen firsthand the harmful effects of contamination on our state’s water supplies and public health. When companies like DuPont and Chemours pollute our precious natural resources, I will not hesitate to take them to court to hold them accountable. Every dollar you chip in helps ensure we can do that kind of work:

Thanks for standing with me on this.
