John,
Jared is in the news again this week for his tireless
work on the climate provisions in the Build Back Better Act...

POLITICO PLAYBOOK reports Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.):
“Part of the challenge here is that we’ve been given this Senate
infrastructure bill, and it has a bunch of concessions to the
fossil-fuel industry baked into it. So if we don’t get these good
parts that actually reduce emissions, we would be going to
Glasgow while taking a step backward. And that’s just not what we
need at this moment… I think Sen. Manchin is driving a really
hard bargain, and we have to get to ‘Yes.’”

This legislation implements President Biden’s agenda and
it should be a no-brainer. It creates millions of sustainable,
union jobs, puts our power sector on a path to zero emissions,
and makes critical investments in the communities on the
frontlines of our economic, environmental, and public health
crises. And, it adds zero to the national debt: it’s fully paid
for by ensuring billionaires and big corporations pay their fair
share of taxes.

After months of working to get on the same page, it’s
unfortunate that some Senators are still holding President
Biden’s agenda hostage — even though the overwhelming majority of
Americans support urgent climate action.

Yet, here we are. Just days away from the United Nations
Climate Conference (COP-26), where Jared will join top climate
scientists and policy makers from around the world to discuss the
impact of global warming and the future of our planet — and a
lone Democratic Senator is still not convinced that climate
change is a problem worth solving.

We can’t accept that — there’s just too much at stake.

Jared is doing everything he can to get the message out
about what’s at stake if Congress fails to include climate
protections in the Build Back Better Act. He is regarded as one
of the most impactful climate and environmental leaders in
Congress, and he’s really stepping up in this critical moment.
He needs our support now more than ever.

To prove we support leaders with the courage to take
action to address the climate crisis NOW, our team has set out to
make the next 24-hours the biggest fundraising day of the year.
