ABC, NBC, CBS station refuse to air our ad showing the wildly inappropriate materials that have been available to kids in VA public schools.
Friend,
NEWS ALERT:ABC, NBC, and CBS stations just REJECTED our ad, “Worth 1,000 Words,” that dares to show the sexually explicit materials that have been available to minors in Virginia public schools.
IWV tried to buy time on late night television—after 11pm ET—so adults in Virginia could see for themselves what is available to their children.
But Virginia TV stations refused to air it, claiming federal law prohibits putting pornographic images and explicit language on air, even late at night, and even when it is news.
If you wish to see for yourself, you can check out the ad at ToxicSchools.org. And you can find links to take action.
How remarkable is it that federal law prohibits TV stations from sharing images and words like this… but Virginia public schools are allowed to share them with minors without accountability?!
And how absurd is it that the parents speaking out against these completely inappropriate materials being shown to their own children are being labeled “domestic terrorists” by the FBI, run out of public schools, or getting doxxed?!
Parents have a right to know what their kids are being taught and exposed to—and a right to tell schools what they want their children to be learning.
It’s worth noting that in 2016, then-Governor McAuliffe vetoed a bill that would have allowed parents to block sexually explicit books in school. And, in 2021, he stated that he didn’t think parents should have a say about what is imposed on their children—despite the parental rights that Virginia law gives to parents in regards to their children.
We’re reaching a new low in our society, and we must rise up to stop it… and protect our children.
As the mom of 5 Virginia public school students, I’ve seen this all firsthand. My colleagues and I at Independent Women’s Voice need your help ensuring that parents and citizens know what is happening in the schools they are paying for and trusting with their children.
