Dear John,
We’ve all heard the news, negotiations on the Build Back Better Act are ongoing – and provisions are being added and subtracted every day. For EDF Action, the bottom line is whether this bill continues to make major cuts in climate pollution, while addressing environmental injustice and creating jobs.
As is, this bill contains significant investments for our environment that will slash pollution and drive the future of climate action. However, final decisions in the House and Senate are not yet over. That’s why we need you to continue to raise your voice, so your leaders will defend the critical emission-cutting provisions that will protect the health of our environment and our communities.
This is our best opportunity to get it right! Message your Senators and Representatives today and tell them to defend key climate provisions that clean up our communities and hold polluters accountable. [link removed]
The Build Back Better Act includes several different ways to cut climate emissions — including fees for polluters, incentives to switch to clean energy and transportation, charging stations, EV manufacturing, and funding for the investments we'll need to support this transformation. Beyond that, we’re pleased that initiatives like the historic tax incentives for clean energy continue to have wide support — even as we work to add provisions to help meet our national target of cutting climate pollution in half by 2030.
By investing in an economy that prioritizes climate we can create the clean energy jobs of tomorrow, while building a pollution-free future today. With your support, we can guide the U.S. towards bold investments that cut pollution, create jobs, address environmental injustice, and tackle the climate crisis head on.
We cannot let this moment pass without taking action. Kicking the can down the road for the next generation is unacceptable. By then it will be too late. Please contact your Senators and Representatives today. [link removed]
For our climate future,
Wes Rogerson
