We’re reaching out again for your help in keeping the bellwether state of Virginia blue, because election day is approaching fast -- and we don’t have a lot of time left to stop a Trump-endorsed, far-right candidate from taking control of Virginia’s state government.
People For is running powerful ads on TV, radio, and online in both English and Spanish to increase turnout among communities of color and other core constituency groups we need to win the incredibly tight governor’s race – the latest poll has the race TIED. We’re also delivering volunteers to Get Out The Vote programs, exposing and disrupting the extreme Radical Right’s well-funded influence in the election, and more.
But we need your financial support to see these efforts through to the finish line.
If Glenn Youngkin succeeds in taking control of Virginia’s state government, it’s big trouble not only for the people of Virginia, but for the country as a whole.
- Youngkin recently spoke at the Family Research Council’s “Pray Vote Stand” conference; the FRC has been designated as an anti-LGBTQ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
- Youngkin has waffled on the issue of Trump’s Big Lie, and has been campaigning with far-right State Senator Amanda Chase -- who openly supports the January 6th insurrectionists.
- Youngkin has privately promised to “go on offense” to shut down abortion rights in Virginia if elected governor ... but also admits he can’t say that in public for fear of losing votes from independents and moderates.
- Finally, Youngkin refuses to support any COVID vaccine mandates whatsoever -- and could not even commit to keeping in place Virginia’s decades-old, common-sense policy that children be vaccinated for measles before attending public schools.
What’s even more disturbing is the “Democrats in disarray” narrative likely to develop if Youngkin wins this election -- which will set the tone for the 2022 midterm elections, and make it harder for President Biden to push progressive policies through Congress that are overwhelmingly supported by the American people.
