The Vaccine Mandate Fight Is A Proxy War

I currently reside in two states and commute.  One state I live in has one of the highest vaccine rates in the country, the other one of the lowest.  I know and talk to people all over the map on the vaccine.

Here’s what I know, people that are rejecting the vaccine and vaccine mandates don’t object to the vaccine per se – they are fighting a proxy war.  After a year and a half of being told in great detail what is and is not acceptable behavior in the minutest of detail they are simply fed up.  They’ll get vaccinated as soon as no one is telling them to get vaccinated.

I don’t think vaccine refusers are the only people fighting a proxy war either.  Many on the left saw the pandemic as a “we’re all in the same boat”...

All-Or-Nothing Thinking

The host said this morning during the news rundown, first segment, first hour, “Bureaucrats got to bureaucrat.”  Because a bureaucracy is an institution generally with a singular mission it tends create a tunnel vision.  Rules do that.  Rules leave no room for prudential judgement.  There are always exceptions, grey areas, variations and unusual circumstances that simply and reasonably defy the rules.  But when you have “one job,” which is to enforce the rules, you tend to not see all the places where the rules simply do not work.  I give you two examples.
