Friend, Protecting the good people of Sacramento is the most important part of my job and hard work is what it takes to deliver transformative change for our working families. I am committed to raising the voices of family caregivers and the experiences of the “sandwich generation”, the many of you caring for both growing children and aging relatives. For so many of us, we take on the role of caring for the people we love without any hesitation. But for far too long, we have overlooked the emotional demands and economic challenges that caregiving responsibilities put on parents in the workforce. Especially for women, the pandemic has only turned up the daily pressure to balance the deeper needs of family with the duties of paid work. For our multigenerational caregivers, it’s a constant push-pull of dueling priorities - there’s your job, caring for your parents, and meeting your children’s educational, extracurricular and emotional needs. I see you, and the tremendous stress you bear. And while, again and again, you get the impossible done - I am working to put the support systems and protections in place that will alleviate challenges facing our sandwich generation caregivers. We simply cannot afford to leave our caregivers behind in our economic recovery and investments in infrastructure. I support President Biden’s Build Back Better Act because it will deliver help to Sacramentos’ working families when they need it most. I will work tirelessly to fight for this legislation that uplifts our community by investing in child care, home and community-based services, paid leave, and a permanent extension of the Child Tax Credit. MY JOB is to push for these positive changes we need. Will you pitch in TODAY to help me continue this important work? In California, there are over 8,500 people on the waiting list for home care services. Child care costs went up in every state during the pandemic, and fewer women are in the workforce without supportive policies like paid family and medical leave. It is evident that our current patchwork of underfunded programs is not equipped to handle this ongoing crisis. That’s why I am pushing for this important legislation that will create more jobs across our region, cut taxes, and lower costs for families. Donate to my Re-Election today so I can keep fighting for you! You are what makes Sacramento so wonderful. Thank you for being a part of my community.
