While conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are rejecting necessary programs left and right, Cori and her progressive colleagues are holding the line to make sure Democrats meet this moment and pass the transformational change our communities are calling for.
John, this is about more than any individual member of Congress – this is about the opportunity to save Black lives.
Many of the policies being discussed for cutting – Medicaid funding, action to address the climate crisis, and support for home care workers – would have direct benefits for Black and brown Americans. By including these policies and others, we can take a critical step towards racial justice. But without them, the racial and economic inequity that has grown during the COVID-19 pandemic will only expand.
