My name is Liz Dunning. I’m the head of the development team at Brady, and nearly 18 years ago, my mom was killed by a senseless act of gun violence.

That's why I do what I do and why I'm reaching out to you today. In a moment, I'm going to ask you to make a gift to power Brady's work — because our emergency match to fund our fight to defeat the NRA at the Supreme Court is expiring soon, and we're still coming up short. As so many of the gun violence survivors who work at Brady will tell you, milestones are especially hard for us. As I braced myself for what would have been my mom's 70th birthday, I knew I wanted to do something to commemorate it — something that would take grit and sacrifice. That's when I found a marathon — a 26-mile run to celebrate the 26 years of life my mom and I shared together.

I ran that marathon for my mom. For all the memories we shared and all those that were taken by gun violence. I ran for my kids, who never got to meet her. When my mom was killed, I felt like I had lost my voice — but running that marathon helped me reclaim it, and with my renewed spirit, I decided to dedicate my voice to Brady.

Now, the Supreme Court is about to hear a case that could endanger all the work Brady has done, and make it easier than ever to carry a deadly weapon in public. This is a pivotal moment in our fight to keep guns out of the wrong hands, so I'm asking you to join me in my dedication to Brady's work.
