I have spent the last decade in the Senate championing abortion rights and reproductive health care. And I’ve never—never—been more concerned about the future of Roe v. Wade .
Let me back up. This summer, Texas passed one of the most extreme abortion laws in the country, banning the procedure at six weeks—before most even know they are pregnant.
And in papers filed today, the state of Texas explicitly asked the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade .
After YEARS of posturing and false reassurances, Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud: overturning Roe has been their goal all along. And it looks like Trump-appointed Supreme Court justices might give them exactly what they want.
I asked my team to put together a petition calling on Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act . [[link removed]] This legislation would prohibit state laws like the one in Texas that ban abortions or create road blocks to access. Simply put, it’s our best way to fight the restrictive anti-choice bills sweeping states across the country.
Please, please take a moment to sign my petition. I would like to reach at least 15,000 new signatures today to make it crystal clear that we won’t stand by while anti-choice politicians chip away at reproductive freedom.

Everything is on the line, John. We have to get loud, we have to get angry, and we have to take action.
Sincerely,
Kirsten
