Oct. 21: the average Latina's wages finally catch up to what a white man makes the previous year
john,
Did you know on October 21 the average Latina’s pay finally catches up to that of the average non-Hispanic white man from the previous year? That's unacceptable! When Latinas only make 57 cents on the dollar compared to a white man for the same job, that holds back people from thriving and keeps dollars out of our economy.
The number of Latinas with a college degree has grown by more than 70% in the past two decades. Still, regardless of their education level, Latinas are paid less than white men. Latinas stand to lose over $1 million over the course of a 40-year career because of the wage gap, impacting their ability to generate economic security for themselves and their families. The wage gap hold back millions of families from achieving the American Dream.
Latinas -- and our economy -- can't wait for the wage gap to just end, we need to fight together! On this Latina Equal Pay Day, thank you for taking this important action to end the wage gap.
In solidarity,
California Labor Federation
