Joe Manchin personally profits from coal companies he founded, which is why he is actively working to gut the climate plan that Bernie negotiated with other progressives in the Build Back Better Act.

Manchin poses as a “moderate,” but in reality, his position is deeply unpopular with voters, and his negotiating strategy has all the statesmanship of a child throwing a temper tantrum.
Though he quickly backed off, a widely reported trial balloon was floated about leaving the Democratic Party if he didn’t get his way.

John, despite Bernie’s budget polling very well in West Virginia, Joe Manchin — a man who founded coal companies that he still receives checks from — is trying to gut the parts of the budget that address the climate crisis, tax the rich, and reduce childhood poverty.

West Virginia is one of the poorest states in our country and is already experiencing negative effects from the climate crisis. There is no constructive reason for Joe Manchin’s position — it’s all about enriching himself, his donors, and the worst polluters on the planet.

Our Revolution refuses to let him distract us and will continue to organize until he stops helping Republicans by blocking the most popular parts of the Democratic agenda.
