Yesterday, the Senate held a vote on the Freedom to Vote Act — legislation to strengthen our democracy by protecting our right to vote, ending partisan gerrymandering, and getting dark money out of politics.
Folks across the country are calling on Congress to protect access to the ballot box, so passing this bill should have been a no-brainer. But instead, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans decided to play political football with our democracy and filibustered this bill — refusing to hold a debate, and offering no other solutions.
McConnell continues to abuse the filibuster to halt progress that the majority of people want. Enough.
The people of Wisconsin didn’t send me to Washington to sit on the sidelines while Republicans attack our right to vote. I’m here to get things done. And if that means getting rid of the Senate filibuster to protect our fundamental right to vote, then I’m all for that.
Will you add your name to my petition calling on the Senate to eliminate the filibuster? Access to the ballot box is on the line, this can’t wait any longer.
The right to vote is fundamental to all our freedoms — I’ll do everything in my power to protect your rights.
Thanks for supporting me on this.
