John,
BuzzFeed is one of the most powerful and influential news sites for young people with more than 18 million followers on Facebook and Twitter.
They have revenue of nearly half a billion dollars annually, they’re going public later this year, and NBC Universal has already invested more than $200 million in the site.
Which makes them one of the most dangerous smear merchants in media today.
Last night, BuzzFeed spread more climate change lies in an effort to push its far Left agenda. This time, it showed the effects of climate change according to a new study. The study claims the Earth’s temperature will rise by 3 degrees and raise sea levels by nearly 9 meters. To illustrate their point, they showed an image of Buckingham Palace underwater.
First of all, Buckingham Palace is 17 meters above sea level. A 9-meter rise wouldn’t accomplish what they claim. Second, the 3-degree temperature increase is projected over the next 200 to 2,000 years.
Naturally, BuzzFeed hides those convenient truths from its audience.
John, here’s why this is so devastating.
BuzzFeed’s audience is overwhelmingly young. Recent studies have shown that climate change fears -- even if false -- are incredibly damaging on the mental health of young people.
Psychiatrist Lise Van Susteren is an expert on the mental health effects of climate change and says those growing brains make young people “particularly vulnerable to environmental stressors.”
But BuzzFeed doesn’t care. It is only focused on pushing its agenda and getting clicks. It doesn’t seem to matter to them that it might be harming its own readers with these lies.
