Just how worried should you be about China’s new hypersonic missile tests?
A lot, suggests Sohrab Ahmari, but not for the reasons you think.
Writing in The American Conservative, Ahmari argues that the U.S. faces crises at home far more acute than China’s hypersonic weapons capabilities—or the U.S. intelligence community’s flat-footed and bewildered response.
Ahmari’s diagnosis of the real threats to America gets to the heart of our culture. You owe it to yourself to read the article.

Mandatory DEI and related trainings on campus are more than just annoying, argue ISI faculty Elizabeth Corey and Jeffrey Polet in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
They’re antithetical to the distinctive purpose of a university.
Universities are built on the “free contestation of ideas.” That means disagreement, and questioning core assumptions. Platonic dialogue, not Robin DiAngelo.
But mandatory trainings generally “assume that the truth is already known . . . about such complex and abstract things as ‘justice’ and ‘race’ and gender.’”
In other words, such “training” amounts to “indoctrination.”
Check out the full article here.
You should pay particular attention to their analysis of how this training paradigm threatens to overthrow the very structure of universities—and how diagnosing the problem helps lead us towards a solution.

- How innovators help the poor improve their circumstances
- Why the economist who revived West Germany after WWII was so wary of government intervention

Have you ever wondered what a healthy American economy should look like?
We all want Americans to prosper in an economy that promotes freedom and human flourishing—but how do we get there?
Undergraduate students are invited to join us for a weekend conference in Pittsburgh, PA, on Nov. 19-21 to discuss the nature of true economic freedom in America.
Join like-minded students and scholars as they discuss the fundamental principles of good economics, and how these principles can guide the country through this precarious moment.
This is an incredible opportunity for current college students. But hurry, today is the last day to apply.
