Thank you to the many of you who took my recent Q4 priorities survey. As always, I’m so grateful that folks from across the country took time out of their day to share their priorities with me and my team.
We continue to learn so much about our supporters after reviewing the results of these surveys, especially this one, which is our seventh survey of the year. But one consistent thread throughout these surveys and their results is: Our current system needs drastic improvements in order for every American to not just survive, but thrive.
I want to promise you that I am doing all I can to introduce and pass legislation that will improve the lives of our most hard working neighbors and loved ones. If you would like to support my work to bring your fights to the frontlines of Congress, please chip in what you can today to help support our movement.
As you probably know by now, I love diving into data, so please indulge me as I share a few statistics from our survey that really stood out to me:
90% of our survey takers listed “Ending Fossil Fuel Subsidies” among the top issues they want me to fight for. Similarly, our top issue on our Q3 survey was “Addressing Climate Change” – so I know this is a topic that many of you are passionate about. That’s why I’ve been leading the fight to end fossil fuel subsidies and hold Big Oil executives accountable for the harm they’ve caused our planet – and I’ll continue that fight until we win. Closely following climate change, 88% of our supporters listed “Passing the Build Back Better Agenda” as a top issue. Special interests and big dollar donors are swaying the more moderate members of the Democratic Party away from voting for this widely-supported legislative plan. It’s frustrating, but we’re not giving up on this vital agenda. And rounding out the third-most voted for priority is “Expanding Social Security and Medicare.” This is the first time this particular issue has been voted in the top 3 priorities on one of my surveys, and is a great example of why I try to reach out at least once a quarter – because priorities change. My team and I have been advocating for stronger protections for older individuals since I’ve been elected to Congress, and I’ll continue to keep that up. |
Reading through all your responses and the passionate support for so many of these important issues reminded me why I’m in this fight.
Are you with me?
Thank you,
Ro
