Let me introduce you to a champion for the people fighting to break a glass ceiling in Mississippi.
Dana Balter for Congress

Friend,

Lynching is a shameful stain on our country that still causes deep pain in the Black community. For the President of the United States to compare the constitutional process of oversight to the brutal murder of thousands of African-Americans is beyond reprehensible.

What's more, this week President Trump is visiting Mississippi ahead of their November 5 election. Mississippi is the state where more people were killed by lynching during Jim Crow than any other. It's also a state where something very special is happening this year.

If you haven't heard of her yet, allow me to introduce you to Jennifer Riley Collins. She's making history as the Democratic nominee for Mississippi Attorney General. Jennifer is a decorated veteran, civil rights attorney, and an experienced litigator dedicated to fighting for the people.

If Democrats rally behind her, Jennifer will be the first African-American woman ever -- and the first African-American since Reconstruction -- to be elected to a statewide executive office in Mississippi. She can win this election in just 13 days, but only if we all do our part to help her power one of the largest grassroots campaigns in Mississippi history.

Let's show President Trump and his enablers that the time for racist language in public discourse has long since past. We're setting a goal of 125 grassroots donations before midnight tomorrow so we can send a blue tidal wave to Mississippi and help Jennifer Riley Collins win. Will you do your part and split a donation between Jennifer's campaign and mine before Trump comes to her turf this week?

If we're going to make progress, we must fight to elect strong Democrats to every single seat possible, and we can't afford to have extremist Republicans gain any ground. Jennifer's opponent is an anti-choice, far-right Republican who chaired Mississippi Women for Trump, supports "building the wall," and has refused to engage in public debates.

State Attorneys General are the first line of defense against the Trump administration's abuse of power, and Mississippi is the only state in the Deep South where this office is currently held by a Democrat. If the GOP nominee is elected as the chief legal officer of Mississippi, the results would not only be disastrous for Mississippi families, but it would set our entire country back.

Let's make sure that Jennifer Riley Collins knows that we're with her in this fight. Will you do everything you can today to elect strong Democrats and split a donation between Jennifer's and our campaign right away? We need 125 people to step up before midnight.

There are times when we are called to be on the right side of history. This is one of those moments.

In solidarity,

Dana
