B Stands for Breakthrough
So often it feels like our conversations around immigration are stuck.
Everyone stays in their partisan silos and rants about how the other
side is to blame, but the only way to a breakthrough in our stalled
immigration conversation is by challenging our own narratives with new
perspectives.
For example, there is no shortage of coverage of the truly chaotic
scenes at the U.S.-Mexico border
.
Horrific circumstances around the world continue to drive people to come
to our border and seek asylum. The recent kidnapping
of 17 missionaries in Haiti is just one example of the situations those
at our borders are fleeing in their home countries.
As you may remember, our team recently went to the border to see
first-hand what is happening. We heard from Border Patrol agents,
ministry leaders and other folks on the ground about how what we see in
the news actually impacts their day-to-day lives. A few of my colleagues
recently spoke
and
wrote
about their experiences
.
I encourage you to hear from them about what they learned.
Experiences like this color our perspectives and add nuance to our
narratives about immigration. They help us discover the truth somewhere
between the news headlines and partisan talking points. But what if you
can't get to the border yourself? How can you encounter new ideas and
compassion rather than fear-driven solutions?
One way is to join us next week for **Leading the Way**
, a two-day virtual
conference happening October 25 and 26 from 3-5pm ET. Registration is
free but closing soon, so please reserve your spot
.
If you'd like to participate but can't attend live, please sign-up
anyway so we can send you the recordings of the sessions.
**Leading the Way** will bring together top thinkers and leaders
in government, faith, business, national security and law enforcement to
have honest conversations about our immigration challenges and creative
solutions for moving forward.
I hope that you'll join us
!
Stay healthy and hopeful,
Adam
