Dear MoveOn member,

This is Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, and I’m emailing you about one of the
most potentially transformative policies within reach of this Congress:
the Child Tax Credit (CTC), which puts money directly into the hands of
tens of millions of middle- and working-class families. 

Democrats established this game-changing program in the American Rescue
Plan earlier this year. We’re only a few months into the policy, and
already, it’s making a historic impact—almost immediately lifting 3.5
million children out of poverty.^1 Just one Child Tax Credit payment
reduced financial anxiety for 56% of families who received it.^2

[ [link removed] ]However, the Child Tax Credit is set to expire—which is why we need to
tell Congress to make the CTC permanent by passing President Biden’s Build
Back Better Agenda.

Congress must make the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent, which would
lift millions of children out of poverty and make life easier for tens of
millions of middle- and working-class families.

After two decades of fighting for this policy, I’m so proud to see that it
has immediately slashed hunger rates, lifted millions of American children
out of poverty, and made life easier for tens of millions of middle-class
families. We have a moral obligation to invest in working families and the
future of our country, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do through
President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda. With Democrats in the
majority, we have the chance to pass this into law immediately.

New research from Columbia University shows that with a permanently
expanded Child Tax Credit, American children would be healthier, learn
more, and would be less likely to be neglected—and taxpayers would earn
back 84 cents for every dollar invested.^3

struggling to make ends meet, it’s time for Congress to take bold action.
