Dear Friend,

Since my daughter announced her candidacy for the Washington State Senate, I have supported her campaign in any way that I can. Usually that means helping out with the laundry when it piles up or taking Frida and Ricky for a walk but when Alison told me about the birthday surprise she was planning I knew this was an opportunity to help. Fundraising can be uncomfortable but it’s important to me that we position Emily to win big in this election.

There are no words to describe how proud I am of Emily. Something that I think has always made Emily exceptional is the fact that she lives and leads with so much conviction. She is consistently driven by her deep sense of compassion, her own lived experiences, and her pragmatic problem solving. The work that she's done as a State Senator is no exception.

She knows what it’s like to be a first generation college student so she fights to make sure that students can make sense of their financial aid applications when planning for college. She knows what it feels like to battle a health care system that doesn’t always seem to have your best interest at heart so she fights to make sure that all of us have access to high-quality health care. Whatever the case may be, Emily simply knows that our community works best when all of us are at the table sharing our stories, sharing our ideas, and working together to find solutions.

I know Emily is our best choice for State Senator but not just because she’s my daughter. Emily is our best choice because she fights for all of us and especially for those of us who have so often been pushed to the side while decisions are being made.
