Co-editors Catherine Nolin and Grahame Russell will be discussing their powerful new book, Testimonio ([link removed]) , on the date of its publication, along with several of the book's contributors.

Testimonio draws on over thirty years of community-based research and direct community support work in Guatemala to expose the ruthless state machinery that benefits the Canadian mining industry—a staggeringly profitable juggernaut of exploitation, sanctioned and supported every step of the way by the Canadian government.

This book, one of the very few focused on Canadian mining in Guatemala, was earlier dropped by publisher Springer Nature under mysterious circumstances ([link removed]) regarding libel concerns. After a long and careful review process, Between the Lines is proud to publish this excellent and important book, and host its online launch.

* Catherine Nolin, co-editor of Testimonio, is a Professor of Geography at University of Northern BC.
* Grahame Russell, co-editor of Testimonio, is the Director of Rights Action ([link removed]) & Adjunct professor at University of Northern BC.
* James Rodríguez is a documentary photographer based in Guatemala since 2006.
* Rev. Emilie Smith is an Anglican priest, theologian & co-President of SICSAL (Oscar Romero Liberation Theology Network).
* Jackie McVicar is a long-time solidarity organizer and writer based in Guatemala.
* Cory Wanless is a Toronto-based lawyer who represents 13 Maya Q’eqchi’ women in lawsuits against Hudbay Minerals (info at chocversushudbay.com ([link removed]) ).
* Moderator Tyler Shipley is a historian and the author of Canada in the World: Settler Capitalism and the Colonial Imagination ([link removed]) , and Ottawa and Empire: Canada and the Military Coup in Hondouras ([link removed]) .

There will be brief remarks from the speakers, followed by a discussion and questions from the audience.
